A few days ago one of my readers reached out to me saying he weighs 430 pounds, and that he tried to lose weight numerous times. For some reason, in the past 4 months, he lost only 30 pounds, and he is totally demotivated and ready to bounce off. He cut carbs out of his diet and he's trying to maintain 6 miles walking daily routine.

I immediately remembered being there and how hopeless I was… You sweat your buts off to be the best version of yourself, and then…

Nothing happens…

So I sent him a few posts from my blog hoping he will learn some things that will help him go down faster, but I started thinking about something…

I lost almost 150 pounds, and I don't have how to lose 50 pounds in 6 months' guide on my weight loss website.

So here is it.

Today, I wanted to walk you through a step-by-step process on how to lose 100 pounds in 6 months. And if you have over 100 pounds, that's fine, this guide is still for you. The information below is from someone who was there and knows how it goes.

Lose 100 pounds in 6 months? Is that even possible?

It doesn't matter if you are young or old, male or female, green or blue, it's possible.

But it depends on you. If you understand the process, learn new things, hustle every day without excuses, it's definitely possible.

Many of my friends ask me: “How can you guarantee that someone will lose 100 pounds in 6 months”.

The answer is always the same: “I can't”.

I can tell you everything you need to know to lose 100 pounds in 6 months, but if you don't take that knowledge and use it, you ain't going anywhere.

So now that you know that everything is possible, and if you are determined to get rid of those pounds, here's how to do it.

First and foremost:

Find your motivation

So I want you to think about this one because this is going to be a foundation for your journey.

You might think that motivational phrases, quotes, and stories are bullshit, but hear me out on this one:

During your weight loss journey, you will fall down, and you will want to quit. At that moment, your last ally will be the motivation you made before you started.

Motivation is something many people are struggling with, and to in order get motivated they open YouTube and start watching motivational videos.

Here's a harsh truth about those videos: They don't do shit. You end up watching them for 3 hours, you feel pumped and ready to die on the treadmill but guess what – you just wasted 3 hours sitting there and watching YouTube.

The true motivation needs to come internally, not from an external source.

[socialpug_tweet tweet=”I don't need something external to motivate me, I find something within' – Eric Thomas” display_tweet=”I don't need something external to motivate me, I find something within' – Eric Thomas” remove_username=”yes”]

The secret hack for finding motivation within is to start asking why and go as deep as you can. For example:

Why do you want to lose weight?
“Because I want to be healthy”
“Because I want to live long”
“Because I want to be there for my family”

This doesn't need to be the case with you, but you get the point.

Deeper you go, the answers will be harder but more motivating.

You will find something strong enough to keep you pushing forward.

And once you find that, whenever you go down or you feel like it's time for a cheat day, or you will to the gym tomorrow, just ask yourself: “Why did you start losing weight in the first place?”.

If this method doesn't work for you, you can always find motivation in other things.

One of my friends told me: “The best motivation that would work for me is if someone offered me $1000 to drop the weight”.

That's normal, many people are motivated with money, and if you are one of them, there's an option for you too.

HealthyWage is a company that offers people money to lose weight. It's very simple and 100% legit.

Basically, you bet that you will lose weight. If you do, you win the prize, if you don't you lose the bet.

Pretty straight forward right?

This is an incredible way to earn some extra cash, stay motivated and lose weight because people are so pumped throughout the whole weight loss journey, and they lose a crazy amount of pounds.

So once you know what drives you, here's the second step.

Find the best diet out there for you

Why didn't I say “Pick a diet!”?

Because I don't believe that everyone can handle every diet.

For example, a keto diet is one of the most effective diets out there. Yet, it's not for everybody.

My sister was on keto for 7 days, and she was so nervous that she eventually quit – it's too hard, it's making her happy, it's too stressful.

I, however, absolutely love the keto diet. I was on keto for over 7 months, and I would do it again with a smile on my face.

Take your time to research what would be the best option for you.

Here are a few things to think about before choosing the diet:

  • How flexible is the diet?
    • How much do you need to cook for it, and do you even have the time to do so every day, for the next 6 months?
    • How many different foods you can eat on it?
    • Do you need to go 150 miles somewhere to pick up everything you need?
  • What's your budget?
  • Can you really enjoy the diet?

If you ask me, the most important question is the third one: Can you really enjoy the diet?

You see, if you don't enjoy it, you will eventually hit the plateau, because you will be stressing about it, and stress increases cortisol who immediately plays with insulin, and ta-daaaa – you're stuck.

I understand that getting rid of bad eating habits is really hard, but shift your mindset to look for alternatives, not just to quit “bad” foods.

From “I can't eat this” try to go to “What can I find to be healthy for me as a substitute for this food?”

That way, you will force yourself to learn more about food and to find healthier options.

Here are a few diets I recommend.

I tried all of these diets and they are phenomenal:

P.S. Try practicing intermittent fasting with these diets, and you will speed up your progress like crazy!

Volumetrics diet

This is an awesome diet that focuses on HOW MUCH you eat instead of WHAT you eat.

You have 4 groups of foods, and you should consume group 1 the most, and group 4 the least.

lose 100 pounds in 6 months

You don't need to count calories, and you can eat pretty much everything.

Keto diet

Of course, if you ask me, this is the best diet in the world.

Keto diet is based on introducing your body to the state of ketosis – a state where your body starts converting your fat cells into ketones. Ketones in this case represent energy, so your body is burning fat for energy.

It's scientifically proven that ketones are the best fuel for our body, but due to the western diet, it's almost impossible to be in natural ketosis without dieting. That is because today food around us is full of carbs and sugars.

When you start a keto diet, make sure not to make these 5 mistakes. Otherwise, you have a plateau waiting behind the corner.

Dietary approaches to stop hypertension or DASH diet is a very effective eating pattern which is based on lowering Sodium intake in your everyday meals.

This was one of the most popular diets last year, and a huge number of people reported they lost weight and improved their overall health.

Bear in mind there are thousands of diets out there, and here's some of them you'd want to avoid:

  • Dukan’s diet
  • UN diet
  • Whole 30 diet
  • Body Reset diet
  • Acid-Alkaline diet

As we said previously, most important thing is to enjoy it. That way, you will certainly face fewer cravings and you will feel motivated.

Knowing that you can lose weight and enjoy your diet at the same time is priceless, trust me.

So, once you pick the perfect diet for you, you have the third step.

Physical activity is a must

You probably don't want to hear this, but it's the truth.

You don't have 20 or 30 pounds to lose to do it with diet. You have 100 or more and your body needs activity.

Exercising is something overweight people are not a huge fan of because it's mostly presented like running till you drop dead on a treadmill or lifting heavy weights. That doesn't have to be the case.

In fact, you shouldn't run or go to the gym until your body is properly adapted to working out.

But exercising can bring a lot of benefits:

  • You can lose weight faster
  • You will increase mobility and overall health
  • You will reduce the chance of getting loose skin
  • You will have more stamina and
  • You will live longer.

So how to start?

Start with walking. Walk every day a couple of miles, and make sure not to eat at least 3 hours before your exercise.

The best time of day to work out or exercise is right after you wake up.

When you wake up, right in the morning, your insulin is low, which means your natural human growth hormone will help you burn fat and you will have the best progress at that time.

Walk at least 30 minutes and when you get home to do some of these exercises:

  • sit-ups
  • push-ups
  • russian twist
  • squats
  • plank

It's completely normal if you can't do any of those – I myself wasn't able to when I was overweight. But the point is to keep trying.

If you can't do a single push up, try just to stay as long as you can in the push-up ready position. Over time you will gain strength and you will be amazed by your progress.
